Stearns delivers federal funds for county projects

Stearns said his earmarks - a term for congressional funding for specific projects in specific areas - are posted on his Web site for public inspection and always go through congressional committees to get authorization so there is "transparency throughout the process."

Tuesday, Stearns and members of his staff brought three oversized ceremonial checks totaling $628,000 to the County Commission. At one point, County Commissioner Stan McClain tried to stick one check in his back pocket.
